Today I came out of hibernation and laced up for some serious training. Great timing too, because some sort of never-before-seen arctic cold front is terrorizing the USA and the temperatures are predicted to be -80 degrees at some locations around here. But The Baker’s Daughter has rules, and the rules are simple: you always run outside (unless it is icy). If it is icy, you get a pass and can run on the treadmill (which is, of course, its own punishment).
So, today, I begin the Operation Iraqi Freedom 200.3 miler with some serious base layers, a very cold face, and tiny prayer that the wind doesn’t haunt me too far down the trail. You never know what will greet you on race day, so you train in whatever the world delivers. #RunWithTheMarines #VirtuallyUnstoppable #WhyIRun #ThisIs48
